FLA (Foreign Language Academy) was founded in 1992 and is now in its 33rd year. Our school provides Japanese language education to international students with the main goal of advancing to universities, graduate schools, vocational schools, etc. We have a proven track record of supporting the further education and employment of many international students.   • FLA is located in the center of Fukuoka City, boasting an excellent location within walking distance of major commercial areas such as Tenjin, Canal City Hakata, and Hakata Station. There are plenty of convenience stores, 24-hour supermarkets, and restaurants in the surrounding area, so you can feel at ease even if it is your first time living in Japan. This area offers convenience and comfort, making it an ideal place to study and live.

  • FLA is located in the heart of Fukuoka City, and currently there are approximately 370 students enrolled. Our school aims to nurture individuals who can thrive internationally by not only learning the Japanese language, but also by helping them understand Japanese society and culture.

  • Our school has a detailed support system in place to ensure that students can study with peace of mind. If you have any problems during your school life, you can always consult with teachers or staff.   • Depending on your Japanese level, you will be assigned to either the "morning class" or the "afternoon class." Classes 15 hours per week.

    ■ Morning class
    Monday to Friday
    9:00～ 12:10

    ■ Afternoon class
    Monday to Friday
    13:40～ 16:00

    *Class times will be decided by the school depending on the student's level (students cannot choose them themselves).

  • In class, we aim to help students acquire the four language skills of "listening, speaking, writing, and reading" in a balanced manner, and we provide careful instruction so that even beginners can learn Japanese without difficulty.

  • We provide solid support to students who wish to improve their Japanese language skills and go on to university or vocational school. We also offer classes to prepare for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), making this the perfect environment for those who wish to acquire a higher level of Japanese.

  • The school can also help students with finding a part-time job to fund their studies. They also post available local part-time jobs, and prepare you for the interview.

  • From interview preparation to instruction in business Japanese, FLA has a comprehensive support system in place for students aiming to find employment or go on to university. We provide thorough guidance so that you can prepare with confidence for further study and employment in Japan.

  • The dormitories are ready for immediate occupancy and are very convenient for commuting to school. If you decide to stay in the school apartments, it is a six month minimum lease. Dormitory fees must be paid along with tuition fees before coming to Japan. One room can accommodates two people. The dormitory entrance fee is paid only once before enrollment, and 10,000 yen for futon purchase must be paid before enrollment.

    Dormitory entrance fee: 30,000 yen
    Rent: 25,000 yen x 6 months
    Utility charges (electricity, gas, water): 5,000 yen x 6 months
    Other (futon for all dormitory residents): 10,000 yen

    After six months have passed, utility bills will be settled when you move out.
