Our school is in a very convenient location. It is close to famous places in Japan such as Ueno, Asakusa, and Akihabara. You can also easily go to Ikebukuro and Tokyo Station. One special point is the warm and friendly atmosphere of this traditional downtown area. It is calm and comfortable, so students can study in a peaceful environment. There are shopping streets, parks, and local events nearby. You can experience Japanese culture and daily life in a natural way. By living and learning here, you will pick up natural Japanese step by step.
As part of our classes, students sometimes go out into the town. For example, you may make a “Downtown Map” and give a presentation about it. We hope you enjoy learning not only in the classroom, but also in the real world around you.
Our students come from many different countries. About 40% are from China, 32% from Vietnam, 18% from Southeast Asia, and 10% from Europe and other Western countries. In total, we have students from more than 20 countries.
This means you can naturally learn about different cultures every day. By studying together, you will grow in understanding and respect for others. You will also build strong communication skills for a global future.

Students are placed in classes according to their Japanese level. Classes are held Monday - Friday.

In our beginner classes, we focus on building a strong foundation so you can really speak Japanese. Students do not just memorize words and grammar. Through interactive lessons, you will learn by actually using Japanese in conversation. Our goal is not only to help you “understand” Japanese, but to help you “use” it with confidence. At Canaan Tokyo, we support you step by step as you grow into a confident Japanese speaker.
In our intermediate classes, we help students develop the ability to think and express ideas in Japanese. Students strengthen grammar and vocabulary at the N3 to N2 level. At the same time, we include discussions and presentations in class. You will practice sharing your opinions in a clear and logical way.
In reading lessons, we use newspaper articles and current topics. This helps you build Japanese skills that are useful in real society. One of our greatest strengths is that students can gain Japanese ability that connects to higher education and their future goals.
We support you with important documents, such as university application papers and visa renewal documents. Our school is a place you can return to anytime for advice and support.

Housing

We offer student dormitories with meals included, so you can start your new life in Japan with peace of mind and comfort. Private rooms, and shared common areas. The common areas are cleaned once a week, and there is a manager on sight to support you.
Living abroad is always accompanied by uncertainty, but you will have our local support to guide you. We are partnered with different apartment companies, so you have the option of living alone.
